Grants Research Associate – Part-Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Identify and select funding sources that align with client projects.

• Manage strict deadlines to produce prospecting reports and other deliverables punctually.

• Comprehend clients’ needs along with their programmatic and research-related project objectives.

• Independently generate client-ready deliverables with minimal supervision.

• Collaborate with Content Directors and Grants Consultants to refine project scopes.

• Investigate innovative solutions for preparing content and efficiently delivering it to clients.

• Represent Hanover alongside colleagues in conveying research findings.

• Provide research services primarily to clients in higher education.

• Evaluate the applicability of highly technical funding programs.

• Contribute to proposal narratives through research best practices, literature reviews, and needs assessments.

• Experience in writing and researching for an academic audience.

• Ability to accept and provide constructive criticism.

• Strong communication, fact-checking, writing, and editing abilities in English.

• Keen interest in prospect research, fundraising strategies, grant writing, and served organizations.

• Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

• Capability to work swiftly and autonomously with minimal guidance or oversight.

• Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrable problem-solving abilities and a strong work ethic.

• Proven academic success.

• High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a liberal arts-related field preferred; candidates with relevant experience and other degrees will also be considered.

• 2–3 years’ experience as a writer and/or editor, ideally with hands-on exposure to grant writing and/or fundraising processes.

• Prior experience with sponsored research is preferred.

• Resume and a relevant professional writing sample no longer than 8 pages on an education or business-related topic are preferred.
