This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of coordinating the global tax compliance calendar for MariaDB.
• Act as the main internal liaison for external tax advisors in all operational jurisdictions.
• Oversee deadlines for corporate income tax, sales and use tax, VAT/GST, and other indirect tax filings.
• Collect, review, and provide supporting data and schedules to external preparers.
• Address and resolve outstanding tax compliance issues.
• Assess draft returns and filings for accuracy and consistency with financial records.
• Keep track of registration, deregistration, and nexus matters as the business evolves.
• Monitor tax payments, refunds, and notices.
• Coordinate responses to inquiries from tax authorities in collaboration with external advisors.
• Organize documentation and support files for audits and internal assessments.
• Review statutory books for foreign subsidiaries, including month-end closing activities and specific journal entries.
• Evaluate and assist with transfer pricing entries, intercompany charges, and true-up adjustments.
• Reconcile discrepancies between statutory reporting and US GAAP.
• Manage external statutory audits, including preparation of request lists, timelines, and supporting documents.
• Collaborate with accounting on intercompany balances, entity-level outcomes, and consolidation inputs.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• Active CPA certification is mandatory.
• 5–8 years of overall tax and accounting experience.
• 3–4 years of experience in public accounting tax practice; Big 4 experience is preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in the industry.
• Exposure to multi-entity, multinational operations, including foreign subsidiaries and differences between statutory and US GAAP.
• Experience managing VAT/GST, corporate income tax, and other filings across various jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with transfer pricing, including intercompany agreements, cost-plus and TNMM concepts, and TP adjustments through the financial records.
• Proficiency in NetSuite is required; experience with NetSuite Multi-Book Accounting is strongly preferred.
• Strong skills in Excel.
• Advanced working proficiency with AI tools like Claude or Gemini, with proven professional application.
• Excellent project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Comfortable collaborating with remote and international teams and advisors across different time zones.
• Ability to communicate complex tax and statutory issues clearly to non-specialists in writing.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
