Global Agronomy Operations Manager

Posted Jul 28

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full responsibility for the implementation of the Finagra Agronomy Target Operating Model across all currently active countries and pilot regions.

• Perform organized quarterly operational assessments with each Country Agronomy Lead, focusing on TOM compliance, staff adequacy, REP performance, and the farm onboarding pipeline.

• Detect operational discrepancies at both country and cluster/regional levels; issue formal corrective actions with deadlines and escalate any non-compliance issues to the CAO.

• Oversee all transitions related to farm-count milestones by confirming staffing readiness, role introduction triggers, and structural adjustments at the 5-, 30-, 100-, and 300-farm thresholds.

• Ensure compliance with FMS onboarding gates, confirming that every farm meets all four criteria (FMS active, REP certified, SOPs live, and complete farm data) prior to portfolio access.

• Directly manage the India Agronomy Lead and Kenya Agronomy Lead, providing performance guidance, resource support, and solutions to operational challenges.

• Establish measurable operational KPIs for each Country Lead that align with TOM expectations, including farm onboarding rate, REP compliance score, agronomic calendar execution rate, and escalation response time.

• Conduct annual performance evaluations, offering developmental feedback and identifying succession candidates for key country-level positions.

• Personally oversee all new-country 5-farm pilot operations from Day 1 until the appointment of a permanent Country Lead, ensuring active management rather than remote oversight.

• Lead the recruitment process for Country Pilot Agronomists and Field Agronomists for LATAM and SE Asia pilots, validating local agronomic qualifications, regulatory knowledge, and farmer relationship skills.

• Enforce strict pilot entry standards, ensuring that FMS readiness, REP certification, and SOP activation are fully completed before the first farm is added to the portfolio.

• Monitor pilot performance against yield plans, input compliance, and FMS data quality, producing structured evaluation reports at the 3-farm and 5-farm milestones.

• Provide recommendations, supported by evidence, for transitioning from pilot to a 30-farm structure (including cluster/regional design and staffing plans) to the CAO and Global Head of Agronomy Excellence.

• Serve as the primary Agronomy contact for Finagra Logistics, coordinating agronomic input schedules, delivery timelines, and seasonal procurement strategies.

• Escalate failures in input supply and critical material shortages from country operations to Finagra Logistics at the portfolio level.

• Collaborate with Finagra TECH on FMS operational needs, converting field-reported platform inefficiencies into structured product improvement requests.

• Ensure that all REP engagement agreements incorporate Finagra Tech data ownership clauses as outlined in TOM Section 10.3.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or Operations Management is mandatory.

• An MBA or advanced qualification in agribusiness management is a notable advantage.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy with over 15 years of proven experience in scaling multi-country farm portfolios may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in agronomy or agribusiness operations, including at least 5 years in a multi-country portfolio management role with direct line management responsibilities for country or regional teams.

• Proven track record in designing and enforcing farm onboarding or operational gate frameworks across a geographically diverse farm network.

• Experience in personally managing agricultural operations in new markets, including team building, establishing operational standards, and achieving first-season results in at least two different markets.

• Demonstrated capability to integrate cross-functional operations: supply chain, technology platforms, and agronomic execution working concurrently.

• Experience in a lean, technology-driven agricultural business model where digital platforms are primarily responsible for monitoring activities.

• Proficiency in P&L literacy, with experience interpreting farm-level financial performance, input budget variances, and yield versus forecast data in operational decision-making.

• Operational experience in India, Kenya, East Africa, LATAM, or SE Asia with a clear understanding of smallholder or contract farming models.

• Fluent English at an executive level is required; working proficiency in Hindi, Swahili, Portuguese, or a Southeast Asian language is an advantage.

🏝️ Benefits

• Complete operational ownership of a global farm portfolio scaling across four high-growth markets.

• Direct reporting line to the CAO, providing real authority without bureaucratic intermediaries.

• The chance to influence how Finagra enters and expands in new countries from the outset.

• Competitive compensation in line with senior global operations leadership roles.

• Flexibility to work remotely with structured international travel opportunities.
