Geospatial Front-End Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, improve, and sustain front-end geospatial web applications utilizing a robust Vanilla JavaScript framework.

• Implement and tailor mapping features through the ArcGIS JavaScript API 4.x.

• Work collaboratively with back-end developers, analysts, and GIS experts to incorporate spatial data and services.

• Diagnose and enhance front-end performance, usability, and map rendering functionalities.

• Assist with MS SQL Server ETL operations, which includes comprehending existing data pipelines and modifying them as necessary.

• Employ ArcGIS Python tools (ArcPy or ArcGIS API for Python) for data loading, automation tasks, and system administration activities.

• Engage in code reviews, architectural conversations, and best practice development methodologies.

• Create technical documentation for applications, workflows, and data processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field along with 4+ years of experience.

• Proven experience in writing clean, modular, and well-organized JavaScript, including the design of applications in Vanilla JavaScript without relying on heavy frameworks.

• Practical experience in developing geospatial applications using ArcGIS JS API 4.x.

• Proficient understanding of SQL Server ETL workflows with the capability to modify or maintain existing processes.

• Experience with ArcGIS Python (ArcPy or ArcGIS API for Python) for data preparation, loading, and automation in administrative tasks.

• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

• Knowledge of REST-based geospatial services and enterprise GIS architectures.

• Understanding of contemporary web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, Webpack, and Node.js.
