This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the systems utilized for test ordering, setup, and appointment scheduling.
• Seek assistance when faced with unfamiliar situations and escalate complex or unusual cases to supervisors or genetic counselors as needed.
• Achieve or surpass productivity benchmarks set by the team lead.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned to support the team or department.
• Examine genetic test orders to ensure completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness to avoid redundant or unnecessary testing.
• Assist in test setup by connecting relevant relative samples and positive controls and performing associated configuration tasks.
• Precisely document order details and updates in internal systems to facilitate downstream test processing.
• Identify issues and place tests on hold for downstream processing.
• Inform clients of issues, clarify any discrepancies or missing information, and document the steps taken to resolve them.
• Address patient and provider inquiries regarding holds via phone and email with professionalism and clarity.
• Collaborate with clients to resolve discrepancies or missing information, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and preventing delays in testing and reporting.
• Process incoming referrals and coordinate patient scheduling to guarantee timely access to genetic counseling and an uninterrupted patient experience.
• Assist the Patient Counseling Team with follow-up tasks related to counseling workflows and manage select test holds to avert delays in testing and reporting.
• A bachelor's degree is required, with preferred fields including Biology, Medical Technology, Healthcare, or another related scientific discipline.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively, exhibiting strong verbal and written communication skills along with high proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
• Demonstrate professional-level skills in mathematical reasoning, computer literacy, and language-based communication.
• Basic knowledge of Genetic Counseling Assistance is preferred but not mandatory.
