This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Conduct investigations into claims made against insurance or other companies for personal, casualty, or property losses or damages; strive to reach an out-of-court settlement with the claimant.
• Manage complex losses independently up to designated authority; provide assistance on larger claims, which includes handling accounting-related losses (business interruption and stock).
• Review claim forms and additional documentation to ascertain insurance coverage.
• Engage in interviews, telephone communications, or correspondence with claimants and witnesses regarding the claim.
• Consult police and hospital records; examine property damage to evaluate the extent of the company's liability and apply various investigation methods based on the type of insurance.
• Assess costs for repair, replacement, or compensation.
• Compile a report of findings and negotiate settlements with claimants.
• Advise the legal department to initiate litigation when a settlement cannot be reached.
• Attend litigation hearings.
• Update case reserves in assigned claims files to reflect anticipated costs.
• Assist in preparing loss experience reports to evaluate profitability and calculate appropriate future rates.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• Must possess the IIA-AIC designation and be actively pursuing an additional professional insurance designation.
• A valid state adjuster license is required.
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation abilities.
• Proficient in PC usage, including Microsoft Office applications.
