GCP Data Architect – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Work in collaboration with stakeholders to comprehend business requirements and convert them into effective data engineering solutions.

• Design and supervise the data architecture and infrastructure to ensure scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and adherence to industry best practices.

• Establish data models and schemas that reflect business needs and the characteristics of the data.

• Choose and integrate databases, data lakes, data warehouses, and big data frameworks.

• Ensure alignment of data engineering solutions with the organization's long-term data strategy and objectives.

• Assess and suggest data governance strategies, focusing on privacy, security, and compliance measures.

• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to outline data requirements and facilitate analysis and reporting.

• Offer technical guidance to data engineering teams and assist in implementation by addressing queries and issues.

• Oversee the implementation process in accordance with design documents and technical specifications.

• Keep abreast of emerging data engineering technologies and recommend or deploy innovative solutions.

• Analyze and enhance system performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

• Ensure the quality and integrity of data through validation and monitoring processes.

• Integrate data engineering solutions with various systems and applications.

• Engage in project planning and estimation activities.

• Document data architecture, infrastructure, and design decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience as a Data Architect, including at least 4 years of experience with GCP cloud-based infrastructure and systems.

• Profound knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and its cloud computing services.

• Extensive experience in the Data & Analytics field.

• Strong grasp of data engineering concepts, such as data modeling, ETL processes, data pipelines, and data governance.

• Expertise in designing and implementing scalable and efficient data processing frameworks.

• Comprehensive knowledge of columnar databases, relational databases, NoSQL databases, data lakes, data warehouses, and big data frameworks.

• Familiarity with modern data transformation tools such as DBT and Dataform.

• Understanding of at least one orchestration and scheduling tool.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, and other scripting languages.

• Knowledge of tools like Git, Jira, and Confluence.

• Experience in selecting and integrating technologies to fulfill business requirements and support long-term data strategies.

• Ability to closely work with stakeholders and translate business needs into data engineering solutions.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Understanding of data governance principles, data privacy, and security regulations.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience in leading and mentoring data engineering teams.

• Familiarity with agile methodologies and agile development environments.

• A commitment to continuous learning and awareness of data engineering trends.

• Strong project management skills, including prioritization, timeline management, and meeting delivery deadlines.

• Solid understanding of distributed computing principles, such as parallel processing, data partitioning, and fault tolerance.

• Certifications in big data technologies or cloud platforms, along with experience in BI solutions, Talend or Alteryx, Apache Spark, Databricks, and Azure, are desirable qualifications that will differentiate candidates, rather than core requirements.
