This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and take charge of the foundation's fundraising strategy encompassing grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual contributions.
• Identify, nurture, and manage relationships with qualified prospects, adjusting solicitation strategies as necessary.
• Convert the Foundation's mission, values, and roadmaps into compelling philanthropic narratives for potential donors.
• Create and oversee corporate sponsorship programs and partnership packages, particularly in relation to flagship conferences and events like the annual State of the Open Home and global community meetups.
• Research, compose, and handle grant applications and funder reporting, including engagement with open-source and public-interest technology funders, ensuring donors are updated on how their contributions support our mission.
• Establish and maintain fundraising systems — tracking for donors/CRM, pipelines, reporting, and donation platforms.
• Work in collaboration with leadership and project communities to ensure fundraising aligns with the foundation's roadmap and values.
• Engage with external partners and advisors as required, including those from international funding sources.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising or development, with a proven history of securing substantial gifts, grants, or corporate sponsorships.
• Experience in managing a fundraising function or leading major fundraising initiatives from start to finish.
• Proven ability to cultivate and close deals with corporate sponsors and/or major donors.
• Strong skills in grant writing and funder reporting.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities.
• Professional fluency in English: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
• US Residency: You must currently reside in and be eligible to work in the US.
• Five weeks (twenty-five days) of paid time off.
• Fourteen days of paid sick leave if local laws classify them as unpaid.
• Six weeks of paid and six weeks of unpaid parental leave to be utilized within the first year after birth, with compensation provided for any missing days as required by local laws.
• A budget for your work-related hardware upon starting; after three years, you may retain this equipment for personal use.
• A 50% contribution towards your home internet connection fee.
• One day every two weeks dedicated to working on your personal projects.
• If you are currently engaged in Home Assistant-related side projects, you can allocate work time to maintain them.
