Fullstack Engineer – Subscriptions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Develop comprehensive features for modern web applications, backend services, and data platforms that support Spotify's global subscription services.

• Create user-friendly internal tools that allow business teams to launch, configure, and manage Premium offers through secure, guided workflows.

• Design, implement, and sustain scalable backend services that facilitate subscriptions, prepaid products, pricing, promotions, and the complete offer lifecycle.

• Create GraphQL and gRPC APIs that link frontend applications with distributed platform services.

• Establish efficient database schemas, carry out data migrations, and enhance application performance using PostgreSQL.

• Develop secure, reliable, and auditable systems that underpin critical financial operations and SOX-compliant approval workflows.

• Collaborate with engineers throughout the Subscriptions Mission to enhance shared platform capabilities, improve the developer experience, and boost platform reliability.

• Write maintainable, well-tested code while engaging in technical design, architectural discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure the reliability and availability of services supporting Spotify Premium.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have experience in building and delivering production software across both frontend and backend technologies.

• You possess experience in developing scalable backend services using contemporary Java, with experience in Java 17+ being an advantage.

• You have developed modern web applications utilizing TypeScript, React, and Next.js.

• You have experience in designing or consuming GraphQL APIs and enjoy creating schema-driven applications.

• You have worked with gRPC services and Protocol Buffers, or you are eager to expand your knowledge in distributed systems.

• You have practical experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization.

• You prioritize writing reliable, maintainable, and well-tested software that provides long-term value.

• You enjoy collaborating with engineers, designers, product managers, and business stakeholders to address complex challenges and achieve meaningful results.

• You are passionate about simplifying intricate workflows and crafting intuitive experiences for internal users.

• Familiarity with tools such as jOOQ, Flyway, Apollo GraphQL, DataLoader, Styled Components, Storybook, TanStack Query, Tailwind CSS, Material UI, or similar technologies will facilitate a quick onboarding.

• Experience in building commerce platforms, subscription products, pricing systems, distributed systems, or large-scale platform modernization initiatives is advantageous.
