FullStack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, databases, and web front-ends.

• Take ownership of features from scoping and architecture through to implementation, testing, release, and optimization.

• Collaborate with product, design, QA, mobile, and DevOps teams to deliver features that align with product strategy and meet client needs.

• Enhance server and browser performance through query optimization, caching, scalability, load-time improvements, and responsiveness enhancements.

• Implement SOLID principles, microservices, event-driven design, authentication, authorization, and API security.

• Perform code reviews and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

• Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests following TDD/BDD practices.

• Design automated testing strategies in partnership with QA teams and troubleshoot production issues through root cause analysis.

• Convert designs into accessible, high-performing, pixel-perfect front-end code.

• Integrate services with third-party APIs, message queues, caching layers, and monitoring/logging platforms.

• Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure reliability.

• Utilize Git with disciplined branching, commits, and pull requests.

• Convey technical concepts effectively and provide technical guidance and knowledge-sharing.

• Leverage AI tools for code generation, debugging, documentation, testing, research, architecture, and productivity enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a full stack developer with deployed applications encompassing both backend services and web front-ends.

• Proven ability to build end-to-end applications, from data modeling and API design to front-end implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Experience working within agile, cross-functional teams, collaborating with product, design, QA, mobile, and DevOps professionals.

• Strong grasp of the full software development lifecycle and production engineering best practices.

• Familiarity with conducting code reviews, creating technical documentation, and adhering to engineering best practices.

• Exposure to performance optimization, scalability issues, and providing production support at scale.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing methodologies.

• Understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.

• Proficient in C# and ASP.NET / .NET Core.

• Skilled in designing and securing RESTful APIs.

• Proficient in SQL Server, SQL syntax, and relational database design.

• Experienced in React or Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and web standards.

• Basic familiarity with Azure, GCP, or AWS.

• Knowledge of Docker and Azure DevOps or Jenkins.

• Experience with Sentry.io, SeriLog, Log4Net, or Azure Application Insights.

• Familiarity with Git/GitHub and disciplined source control practices.

• Strong debugging, testing, and performance tuning skills; exposure to TDD/BDD.

• Understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, object-oriented design, algorithm design, and complexity analysis.

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent demonstrated experience is also acceptable.

• Ability to utilize AI tools as a standard aspect of engineering work.

• Preference for candidates based in Cape Town.
