Full Stack Engineer – Innovation Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, prototype, and implement new features for both backend (PHP) and frontend (JavaScript) to enhance Matomo’s functionality.

• Engage with additional technologies as necessary, including Python and Node.js.

• Swiftly investigate and validate fresh product concepts — particularly AI-driven insights and analytics functionalities.

• Recognize and cultivate innovation opportunities across analytics, visualization, integrations, and user experience.

• Take ownership of ideas from inception to deployment.

• Balance efficiency and quality while steering clear of unnecessary over-engineering.

• Operate successfully within a small, self-sufficient team with minimal supervision.

• Proactively identify and tackle obstacles to progress, escalating when necessary for support.

• Write automated tests, conduct code reviews, and generate comprehensive technical documentation.

• Stay vigilant about security vulnerabilities and ensure secure implementation practices.

• Keep abreast of emerging technologies, frameworks, and product trends to bring innovative perspectives to Matomo.

• Collaborate directly with Matomo’s co-founders and senior engineers using tools like Slack, Jira, and Confluence.

• Share concepts, prototypes, and insights to promote innovative practices throughout the company.

• Clearly communicate ideas, reasoning, and technical trade-offs in a fully remote, global setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in backend development using PHP or Python, along with knowledge of databases and frontend development in JavaScript.

• Demonstrated success in delivering features from concept through prototyping to production.

• Strong analytical skills with a practical approach to innovation and new technologies.

• Ability to work independently in a small, dynamic team while effectively managing priorities.

• A product-focused mindset, capable of translating user needs and strategic objectives into actionable, impactful solutions.

• Comfortable balancing quick delivery with sustainable engineering quality.

• Familiarity with security vulnerabilities and strategies to mitigate them.

• Experience in writing automated tests, performing code reviews, and creating technical documentation.

• Exceptional English communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas, reasoning, and trade-offs.

• Proficient in working within a fully remote, global, and agile environment.
