Full Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• - **Engage with the entire technology stack** — involving data models, API contracts, user interfaces, and production behavior — while contributing to various domains as they transition to a modern architecture.

• - **Identify and avoid poor legacy patterns** — analyze the existing Express/MongoDB and Backbone/React frameworks, comprehend their shortcomings, and implement improved practices in new developments rather than perpetuating outdated habits.

• - **Design with scalability in mind within realistic constraints** — create solutions that can scale, even when they must interface with an inflexible legacy system that cannot be entirely overhauled.

• - **Develop on the contemporary stack** — utilizing NestJS modules (dependency injection, guards, interceptors) and Next.js applications (App Router, server components, typed clients).

• - **Grasp the strangler fig approach** — understand how legacy and new systems operate concurrently, behind feature flags, ensuring zero data loss and no downtime — and actively participate in this process without causing disruptions.

• - **Carefully model relational data** — assist in transitioning transactional data from documents into a normalized SQL schema that includes real constraints and secure migrations.

• - **Prioritize writing tests** — including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing. A robust test suite enables the team to move quickly and safely.

• - **Identify and report issues** — such as flaky tests, N+1 problems, or missing indexes. Clearly communicate these issues so they can be prioritized, and address them when appropriate.

• - **Efficiently leverage AI tools** while ensuring a solid understanding of and backing for every line of code produced.

⛳️ Requirements

• - Over 4 years of experience delivering production-level full-stack solutions.

• - Proficient in TypeScript for both front-end and back-end development.

• - Experience with NestJS (or extensive knowledge of Express/Fastify with a grasp of dependency injection).

• - Familiarity with Next.js/React (hooks, App Router, SSR/CSR).

• - Knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL (schema design, indexing, transaction management, migrations).

• - Ability to differentiate between effective patterns and problematic legacy practices.

• - Capability to design scalable solutions that integrate within a pre-existing, rigid framework.

• - Proficient in testing methodologies (Jest, Playwright/Cypress, Supertest).

• - Experience in API design (REST, authentication, backward-compatible evolution).

• **Bonus:**

• - Experience in migrating from legacy codebases.

• - Knowledge in fintech, payments, or ledger systems.

• - Familiarity with message queues (RabbitMQ/SQS/Kafka).

• - Experience with MongoDB/Mongoose Aggregation.

• - Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.

• - Intentional use of AI agents in production workflows.
