Full-stack Engineer 5 – Shopping

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee a portfolio of varied technology projects and manage a team of developers focused on creating distributed microservices and full-stack systems.

• Address regulatory requirements through innovative technology solutions.

• Remain updated on technology advancements, explore and learn new technologies, and engage with both internal and external technology communities.

• Guide and mentor members of the engineering team.

• Work closely with digital product managers to deliver reliable cloud-based solutions for millions of Americans.

• Utilize Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, open-source relational and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services.

• Provide technical leadership across various teams, shaping system architecture and long-term technology vision.

• Direct the end-to-end design and implementation of large-scale, distributed, or cloud-native systems.

• Collaborate with architects and product leaders to outline platform development roadmaps and shared services strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering).

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering; internship experience does not qualify.

• At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Willingness and eligibility for employment authorization sponsorship consideration.

• Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Preferred: 9+ years of coding experience with more than two of the following: Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.

• Preferred: 5+ years contributing to open-source frameworks.

• Preferred: 5+ years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.

• Preferred: 5+ years creating both synchronous and asynchronous APIs.

• Preferred: 4+ years working with database and database management systems.

• Preferred: 4+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: 4+ years utilizing CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience using Git-based version control systems.

• Preferred: 4+ years troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.

• Preferred: 3+ years mentoring senior engineers and fostering professional development within technical teams.

• Preferred: 2+ years utilizing observability to pinpoint and enhance performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.

• Preferred: 1+ year leading architectural design reviews and shaping enterprise-wide technical standards and methodologies.

• Preferred: 1+ year establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.

• Preferred: 1+ year implementing observability and reliability practices at scale.

• Preferred experience with modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.

• Preferred experience influencing technology strategy at the portfolio or business unit level.

• Preferred experience with interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion.

• Preferred experience leading cross-functional engineering initiatives or large-scale technical projects.
