Front End Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead a geographically dispersed team of engineers to enhance the Firefox Desktop user experience.

• Spearhead initiatives that deliver high-quality, highly available, monitored, and maintainable software.

• Navigate trade-offs and synchronize teams across a range of browser user experiences.

• Articulate team objectives, project scope, risks, and delivery timelines.

• Develop and refine engineering processes that support a high-performing team.

• Conduct regular one-on-ones focusing on technical work and professional growth.

• Offer direct performance feedback and assist developers throughout their development lifecycle.

• Foster an inclusive environment that motivates and challenges team members.

• Collaborate with Product, UX, QA, Operations, and Data Science teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience leading engineers in a software development setting, working with multiple distributed teams.

• A software engineering background that facilitates technical decision-making and engagement with engineers of all seniority levels.

• Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects.

• Prior experience with frontend platform initiatives, including design systems and frontend architectural enhancements.

• A successful track record of delivering front-end experiences to user-facing products.

• Practical experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex user-facing experiences on schedule, utilizing data to guide timelines.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

• Capability to resolve issues, manage risks, lead change, and facilitate collaborative decision-making.

• Experience in communicating with senior leadership and advocating for engineering priorities.

• A desire to grow as a manager and foster the development of others.

• Ability to recruit, mentor, empower, develop, and delegate tasks to team members across different locations.
