Freight Broker – Independent Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Guyana.

📋 Description

• Connect shippers with transportation services for the movement of goods and vice versa.

• Serve as the intermediary between clients and transportation providers.

• Ensure freight delivery is timely, cost-effective, and secure.

• Negotiate rates, monitor shipments, and address issues while complying with regulatory standards.

• Identify appropriate transportation carriers from origin to destination.

• Develop carrier databases through daily prospecting based on assigned regions.

• Maintain and update carrier databases as well as customer and carrier information.

• Create loads categorized under the correct customer classification.

• Accurately establish and finalize jobs within the system.

• Update carrier insurance information during the setup process.

• Review carrier feedback for unacceptable conduct prior to onboarding.

• Follow up regarding carrier payments.

• Conduct weekly reviews of carrier performance and submit findings to pertinent personnel.

• Ensure carriers provide Proof of Delivery (POD) within timelines specified by customers.

• Develop manufacturer/distributor databases through consistent prospecting.

• Inform customers of any shipment delays or issues to reduce escalation.

• Set up each driver using the necessary systems.

• Ensure carriers comprehend shipment tracking requirements when booking loads.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Broker.

• Experience in Operations Management would be beneficial.

• At least 5 successful passes or more at CSEC or an equivalent qualification.

• A diploma in a relevant field is preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Safeguard company and client information in line with company policies and procedures.

• Self-driven and capable of working independently.

• Strong work ethic.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Familiarity with carrier sourcing, rate negotiation, and shipment coordination.
