Freelance Social Editor, Complex Latin – Weekends

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the daily creation, curation, and publication of content for Complex Latin's social media channels.

• Discover, propose, and implement timely stories, breaking news, trending topics, and cultural discussions.

• Write, edit, and publish social media content in both English and Spanish.

• Create and modify graphics, carousels, short-form videos, and other content tailored for specific platforms.

• Ensure that all published content is accurate, well-sourced, engaging, and culturally relevant.

• Collaborate with the lead Social Editor and the wider Social team.

• Assist in live social coverage of significant cultural events, moments, and key occasions.

• Support the social execution of commerce, experiential, and branded initiatives.

• Adhere to editorial workflows, publishing standards, and content tagging protocols.

• Integrate editorial feedback, platform best practices, and insights from performance analytics.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3+ years of experience in social media publishing, digital editorial, or content creation.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Spanish.

• In-depth understanding of U.S. Latino culture and its diverse communities.

• Familiarity with Complex's editorial identity and the intersections of Latin culture, hip-hop, sneakers, sports, and wider pop culture.

• Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and fact-checking abilities.

• Knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube Shorts.

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar software.

• Capability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively.

• Availability to work designated shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship.
