Freelance Business Intake Researcher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Collect and evaluate financial data, regulatory and litigation histories, as well as recent updates from external corporate and governmental databases.

• Collaborate with intake attorneys and reviewing attorneys to assess risk management concerns related to new clients and matters.

• Work alongside litigation partners to determine the financial viability of potential new matters.

• Conduct specialized searches regarding incoming lateral attorneys, potential mergers, and other unique situations.

• Engage in special projects focused on enhancing new business intake best practices and risk management initiatives within Information Governance.

• Support the Conflicts team in determining whether conflicts of interest arise under relevant Rules of Professional Conduct.

• Collaborate with QAC Paralegals to assist Claims Counsel and General Counsel with Litigation Holds, Subpoenas, Protective Orders, and Outside Counsel Guidelines intake.

• Execute additional research and administrative tasks and provide support to cross-departmental teams as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in compiling and analyzing risk assessment reports.

• Previous experience with corporate risk assessment research and analysis, and/or investigative due diligence.

• Proficient in analyzing, cross-referencing, and summarizing findings from third-party proprietary databases and public records.

• Bachelor’s Degree required.

• Understanding of KYC/AML regulations.

• Ability to interpret financial statements.

• Knowledge of and capability to analyze SEC filings.

• Familiarity with current trends in the legal and financial services sectors.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong attention to detail, along with analytical, proofreading, and organizational skills.

• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• Capacity to contribute innovative ideas for process enhancements.

• Ability to perform under pressure and meet project deadlines with quick turnaround times.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Familiarity with Intapp and data intake processing software.

• Advanced legal or business degree or KYC/AML compliance certification is preferred.
