Fraud Operations Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee live card transactions and payment processes, emphasizing unusual patterns and automated alerts associated with fraudulent activities (e.g., brute force attacks, card testing, phishing attempts).

• Independently assess and manage alerts, escalating issues as necessary, while adhering to internal protocols.

• Collaborate with fraud and engineering teams to enhance the accuracy of alerts and the logic behind detection mechanisms.

• Engage in the management of fraud or system-related incidents—investigating, coordinating internal communications, and documenting the procedures involved.

• Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) and conduct post-incident reviews for ongoing improvement.

• Utilize SQL and basic Python to extract and analyze data concerning transaction anomalies, false positives, or recurring problems.

• Aid in identifying emerging fraud trends or vulnerabilities within payment processes.

• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Compliance, and Customer Relations teams during live escalations.

• Help enhance monitoring dashboards and internal documentation to strengthen and scale processes effectively.

• Contribute innovative ideas for process automation and enhancements to fraud models.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in fintech, payments operations, fraud monitoring, or a related support role.

• Strong understanding of card payment flows, various fraud scenarios (e.g., card testing, phishing, credential stuffing), and payment APIs.

• Practical experience with SQL and basic Python (e.g., data cleanup, automation scripts).

• Familiarity with alerting or monitoring tools, as well as experience with incident response workflows and ticketing systems.

• Exceptional attention to detail, the ability to work independently under pressure, and comfort in handling live production environments.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Willingness to work a fixed schedule that includes weekend rotations.
