This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Design, create, and sustain high-performance services for ExtraHop's core Framework systems, managing moderately complex to complex features with minimal guidance.
• Collaborate across networking layers to implement and enhance support for various protocols.
• Take part in technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Produce clear technical documentation.
• Engage in agile methodologies including sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives.
• Uphold high standards for code quality and testing coverage.
• Work together with Product, platform, infrastructure, and cloud teams to transform business requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
• Investigate, diagnose, and independently resolve production and performance challenges.
• Conduct root-cause analyses and implement preventive strategies.
• Participate in platform modernization efforts and assess and adopt new technologies or frameworks.
• Join on-call rotations and enhance observability, reliability, and operational preparedness.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, STEM, or a related discipline that demands systematic and analytical thinking.
• Over 4 years of professional experience in designing and delivering production-level software.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++, along with other languages like Go and Python.
• Experience in developing on Linux systems, encompassing multithreading, memory management, and IPC.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain performance-critical systems.
• Proven capability to debug intricate issues using tools such as gdb, coredumps, and performance analysis tools.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and packet processing.
• Strong command of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Ability to break down complex problems into clear, actionable engineering tasks.
• Capability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, a growth mindset, and a customer-first approach.
• Nice-to-have: experience with network protocols such as HTTP, SMB, Kerberos, TLS, or Microsoft protocols.
• Nice-to-have: exposure to cloud platforms, preferably AWS, or distributed systems.
• Nice-to-have: experience with observability, on-call practices, and production systems.
• Nice-to-have: scripting experience in Python or similar languages.
