FP&A Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take charge of comprehensive bookkeeping, ensuring monthly closures and precise preparation of financial statements.

• Implement COGS tracking by product and channel.

• Develop and manage company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Create and sustain a retail-specific contribution margin model that addresses distribution, trade marketing, slotting, and other retail expenses distinct from DTC.

• Collaborate with the founding team on financial strategies for retail expansion, including pricing, door count, and SKU selection.

• Set up labor cost and budget tracking by business unit, linked to CAC, LTV, and MER metrics.

• Establish the foundation for the future finance function structure, including team expansion as scope grows.

• Report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Head of Data.

• Assist with real-time troubleshooting, banking approvals, and communication related to weekly and monthly payment cycles.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong accounting fundamentals.

• Ability to independently manage books and monthly closures as the company’s initial dedicated finance hire.

• Experience leading FP&A in a growth-stage consumer or DTC brand.

• Preferably, experience as an early or founding finance hire.

• Direct experience in modeling retail unit economics.

• Awareness that retail success relies on velocity and margin, rather than just price matching.

• Proficient in building and formalizing infrastructure and processes across accounting and FP&A.

• Proven ability to communicate financial complexities in actionable terms for non-finance stakeholders.

• Strong alignment with US business hours, preferably in the Central Time Zone / CST.

• A brief overview of a dynamic financial model developed for a DTC e-commerce business is required.
