Founding Recruiter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop, standardize, and continuously enhance LanceDB's comprehensive hiring process for both technical and go-to-market roles — from sourcing and screening to securing candidates.

• Manage our recruitment platform and technology stack (ATS, sourcing, and AI recruiting tools), establishing and refining the systems that enable hiring to scale with the team.

• Create and deliver an outstanding candidate experience at each stage, ensuring a swift, consistent, and impactful process that embodies our brand and accommodates candidates across various time zones.

• Recruit for highly technical positions — systems and database engineers, many skilled in Rust — alongside go-to-market roles in sales, marketing, developer relations, and customer success.

• Collaborate closely with hiring managers in engineering and go-to-market teams to define role requirements, develop engaging job descriptions, and standardize a structured interview process tailored to each function.

• Actively source candidates through direct outreach, team referrals, open-source communities, hackathons, and various industry events.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in recruiting, ideally within a rapidly growing startup environment or technical companies.

• A proven history of building and standardizing recruiting processes from the ground up, with a focus on operational excellence.

• Hands-on experience with managing and optimizing applicant tracking systems (ATS) and AI recruiting tools.

• Demonstrated ability to source and implement innovative talent attraction strategies; successfully close high-caliber candidates across both technical and go-to-market roles.

• A dedication to providing an excellent candidate experience while managing an impactful, high-velocity hiring process.

• A data-driven approach with experience utilizing recruiting analytics to enhance hiring outcomes.

• Comfort in recruiting for highly technical roles (e.g., infrastructure and database engineering) as well as sales, marketing, and other go-to-market functions.

• Experience recruiting for a remote-native, distributed team; familiarity with supporting international or multi-country hiring is a plus as we begin our global expansion.

• A passion for startup culture with the ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Strong communication skills to effectively convey the vision of LanceDB to prospective candidates.

• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation abilities.

• Bonus: knowledge of the AI/ML, data infrastructure, or developer-tools ecosystem.
