
Forward Deployed Engineer – Infrastructure and Deployment

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the installation and configuration of Preql within customer environments, utilizing Docker images, Helm charts, and deploying in customer-managed Kubernetes across AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premise setups.
• Establish networking, identity, and access protocols, which include private connectivity, SSO and SAML, IAM and role design, warehouse permissions, and secrets management.
• Oversee the deployment architecture for each account, ensuring that the delivered build aligns with the SOW scope.
• Explore customer IT environments to proactively identify and address potential blockers.
• Lead enterprise security and compliance assessments, which encompass questionnaires, data handling and residency requirements, architecture reviews, and escalations.
• Ensure production health within customer environments through monitoring, upgrades, and prompt responses to incidents.
• Uphold release and versioning protocols to keep customers on supported and known configurations.
• Develop runbooks, installation automation, and reference architecture documentation.
• Conduct customer installations independently and articulate Preql’s architecture to customer security teams.
• Streamline installation time, maintain known versions, and establish a repeatable deployment process.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering, particularly in deploying to production environments you did not manage.
• Hands-on production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP, along with a working knowledge of the other platforms.
• Experience in enterprise networking and identity management, including VPCs, private connectivity, SSO, SAML, IAM, role design, and secrets management.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes, observability, and incident response.
• High level of SQL and data infrastructure knowledge.
• Ability to work directly with customers, which includes scoping, pushing back, and communicating unfavorable news promptly.
• Strong capacity to handle ambiguity and create runbooks in the absence of existing documentation.

• Strong indicator: experience guiding deployments through the security reviews of regulated buyers.
