Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Address Customer Challenges: As the primary point of contact for intricate technical escalations, you will assess reported issues, recreate them in secure environments, and frequently resolve them independently. For cases requiring additional effort, you will convert production data into reproducible test cases, facilitating the offshore team and maintaining our momentum. Your role goes beyond merely closing tickets; you are committed to identifying and resolving the underlying causes of customer difficulties.

• Develop Core Product Code: You are a creator. You will enhance our TypeScript/Node.js backend by implementing features and refactoring outdated code. You will ensure that "support" issues evolve into lasting engineering solutions.

• Scale & Optimize: You will be responsible for the integrity of the US production environment. Your duties include optimizing slow Postgres queries, managing database locking strategies, and developing internal tools (such as data de-identification pipelines) that enable our global team to release faster and more securely.

• Embrace Flexibility: You will switch between addressing significant customer needs, core development tasks, and maintaining the quality and health of the production environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ Years of Engineering Experience: You are a proficient backend engineer (TypeScript/Node.js) who favors practical problem-solving over theoretical concepts.

• The "Forward Deployed" Mindset: You find satisfaction in resolving urgent customer issues. You are adept at navigating ambiguity, inspecting logs, and tracing a bug from a customer report to a specific line of code. You take ownership of these issues, ensuring accountability for their resolution and customer communication.

• Operational Fluency: You thrive in a production environment. You possess a deep understanding of Postgres internals, capable of analyzing query plans, debugging concurrency challenges (locking, contention), and optimizing data access patterns for scalability. You create new metrics and enhance existing ones, investigate logs, and prioritize efficiency and reliability.
