Forward Deployed Engineer

Posted Jul 25

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct customer discovery, workflow observation, and field notes with operators and decision-makers until you can identify the users, states, evidence sources, exceptions, and actual operational constraints.

• Implement incremental product features in a live codebase across the frontend, backend, data, and integrations, ensuring that the successful paths function correctly while the problematic paths fail, and the behavior withstands realistic data scenarios.

• Develop tests, execute realistic paths, review logs, and document what is validated, absent, or uncertain, ensuring that every customer demonstration is supported by evidence rather than optimism.

• Articulate trade-offs, risks, and subsequent steps to non-technical customers without exaggerating claims.

• Recognize reusable patterns from field observations and communicate them to product and engineering teams, facilitating quicker onboarding, safer workflows, or more adaptable products for future customers.

• Manage ambiguous tasks from start to finish: discovery, development, demonstration, rollout, and follow-up.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have personally delivered production software and can articulate what you contributed, how you validated it, and the impact it had on users.

• You are at ease in chaotic customer environments where initial requests seldom address the core issue.

• You can communicate with operators in straightforward language and then return to the codebase to implement solutions.

• Product UI: Proficient in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and shadcn/Tailwind; you can trace user flows, modify screens, and adhere to server/client boundaries.

• Backend: Knowledge of Python (uv), Pydantic, Django/Django Ninja or FastAPI, background workers, and typed APIs.

• Data and authentication: Experience with Postgres, migrations, service roles, tenant scoping, and auditability.

• AI systems: Familiarity with pydantic-ai agents, typed outputs, evaluations, and provider selection among Gemini, OpenAI, and Bedrock; you leverage AI tools for efficiency but do not consider generated outputs or polished demos as definitive proof.

• Cloud: Competency with Vercel, Cloudflare, AWS, and GCP; you can troubleshoot across deployment, environmental configuration, logs, and customer-facing behavior.

• Evidence discipline: You instinctively distinguish between fact, inference, assumption, and risk.

• Product judgment: You resist one-off customizations unless the insights clearly warrant deviation from the core product.

• Strong communication skills: You can clarify what is secure, what is uncertain, and outline the next steps.

🏝️ Benefits

• Engaging work that significantly impacts the intersection of AI and critical infrastructure regulation.

• Direct interaction with customers and a crucial role in shaping our development decisions.

• Small team with substantial influence; your insights from the field directly inform the product roadmap.

• A modern AI-native development environment (Claude Code, Cursor, multi-model orchestration).

• Remote-first work culture.

• Competitive compensation package.
