Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Participate in the development of production code (Java/Kotlin, C++ encoding stack) as an integral part of the Encoding team's sprints.

• Take technical ownership of our US enterprise accounts: manage timezone differences, troubleshoot and resolve encoding issues during EU off-hours, and ensure incidents are resolved or handed over safely.

• Travel to client locations to assist with integrations, conduct workshops, and address escalations in person.

• Provide insights gained from the field to enhance sprint planning and inform the product roadmap.

• Make informed decisions on escalation versus resolution independently, while maintaining clear asynchronous communication with the EU team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering at a senior level, with strong proficiency in Java or C++, capable of contributing production code to the encoding team's sprints.

• At least 2 years in a customer-facing technical position (solutions architecture, professional services, forward deployment, or named-account support).

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP), Docker, and hands-on capabilities in running and debugging scalable distributed services.

• Strong troubleshooting skills on live customer systems: including log analysis, error diagnosis, network tracing, and reproducing issues from limited information.

• Openness to AI-assisted development workflows and familiarity with AI tools such as Claude Code.

• Excellent written and verbal English skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with enterprise engineering teams.

• High degree of autonomy: comfortable managing issues independently during US hours while the EU team is offline, with sound judgment on when to escalate versus resolve.

• Located on the US East Coast or in Denver, and willing to travel frequently to client sites.

• Must already possess the right to work in the United States.
