Forensic Structural Engineer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Perform site evaluations to identify the cause, origin, and extent of structural damage.

• Examine damage resulting from storms, natural disasters, fires or explosions, construction/design flaws, accidents, foundation shifts, and other factors.

• Assess failure modes and contributing elements.

• Formulate clear and well-supported conclusions.

• Generate high-quality technical reports, documentation, and deliverables.

• Provide prompt and professional updates to clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

• Actively close communication gaps and manage expectations.

• Operate independently from a home office while utilizing internal experts and resources.

• Foster long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners.

• Drive issues toward resolution with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure that deliverables meet or surpass customer expectations and applicable standards.

• Offer ideas to enhance processes, tools, and customer outcomes.

• Assist others in navigating change and embracing improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of forensic engineering experience required; 5–10 years preferred.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited university required.

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Ohio required, or eligibility through reciprocity.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a cross-functional team of experts.

• Strong technical writing capabilities and proficiency in crafting effective reports.

• Excellent verbal communication skills.

• Ability to deliver outstanding customer service.

• Technical proficiency with computers, phones, cameras, and similar equipment.

• Capability to perform fieldwork, including confined space and roof inspections.

• Ability to carry ladders and operate necessary equipment.

• Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally by vehicle or plane.

• Some overnight travel is required.

• Expert Witness experience is preferred.
