Forensic Structural Engineer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Perform site inspections to ascertain the cause, origin, and extent of structural damage.

• Examine structural damage resulting from storms, natural disasters, fires/explosions, construction or design defects, accidents, foundation movement, and various other factors.

• Assess failure modes and contributing elements.

• Formulate clear, well-founded conclusions.

• Generate technical reports, documentation, and other deliverables.

• Offer prompt, professional updates to clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

• Actively close communication gaps and manage expectations effectively.

• Operate independently from a home office while utilizing internal experts and resources.

• Cultivate long-lasting relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners.

• Drive issues towards resolution with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure that deliverables meet or exceed customer expectations and relevant standards.

• Contribute ideas aimed at enhancing processes, tools, and customer outcomes.

• Assist others in navigating change and embracing improvements.

• Travel for investigations as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of forensic engineering experience is required; 5–10 years is preferred.

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited university is required.

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Florida, or eligibility through reciprocity.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.

• Capability to work independently and collaborate with a cross-functional team of experts.

• Proficient technical writing skills and the ability to craft effective reports.

• Strong verbal communication abilities.

• Capacity to provide outstanding customer service.

• Technical proficiency with computers, phones, cameras, and necessary equipment.

• Ability to perform fieldwork, which includes inspections in confined spaces and on roofs.

• Capability to carry ladders and operate required equipment.

• Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally by vehicle or plane.

• Some overnight travel will be necessary.

• Expert Witness experience is preferred.

• A Master of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred.
