This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Perform site inspections to identify the cause, origin, and extent of structural damage.
• Assess failure modes and contributing factors.
• Examine structural damage due to storms, natural disasters, fires/explosions, construction/design flaws, accidents, foundation movement, and other causes.
• Formulate clear and well-supported conclusions.
• Create technical reports, documentation, and deliverables.
• Provide prompt and professional updates to clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Bridge communication gaps and manage expectations effectively.
• Operate independently from a home office while utilizing internal experts and resources.
• Foster long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners.
• Drive issues to resolution with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure that deliverables meet or exceed customer expectations and relevant standards.
• Contribute ideas to enhance processes, tools, and customer outcomes.
• Assist others in navigating change and embracing improvements.
• Minimum of 1 year of forensic engineering experience preferred.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a cross-functional team of experts.
• Strong technical writing abilities and proficiency in creating effective reports.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and effective face-to-face interaction.
• Commitment to providing exceptional customer service to clients.
• Technical proficiency with computers, phones, cameras, and related equipment.
• Expert Witness experience is preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Illinois is required, or eligibility by reciprocity.
• Ability to conduct fieldwork, including inspections in confined spaces and on roofs.
• Capability to carry ladders and operate necessary equipment.
• Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally by vehicle or plane.
• Some overnight travel will be required.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited university is required.
• Master of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred.
