Forensic Mechanical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations to determine the causes and origins of failures, damages, or defects in mechanical systems and components across industrial, commercial, and residential locations.

• Assess mechanical system failures, identify root causes, evaluate construction quality, and review design and maintenance processes.

• Execute field investigations, lead collaborative examinations, and document findings related to damaged properties.

• Investigate failure modes and code requirements, providing recommendations for necessary repairs and/or replacements.

• Generate precise, clear, comprehensive, and concise reports and documentation for clients that outline opinions and conclusions.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on extensive and intricate projects.

• Foster and maintain established relationships with current clients and consultants.

• Keep updated on company policies, procedures, and practices; engage in ongoing training and development as assigned or approved to ensure knowledge and skills are current and extensive.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering along with a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the fields of insurance or legal forensics.

• Residency in Florida is a prerequisite for this role.

• An active Professional Engineering (PE) license is required; at least the minimum from the resident state.

• Willingness to engage in expert witness activities and provide court testimony.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal abilities.

• Proficient in computer applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• A motivation to learn, excel, and grow with the company and within the profession.

• Flexibility to travel, with an ability to accommodate approximately 30–50% travel requirements.
