Flight Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Defining and taking ownership of the flight software architecture for intricate space systems.

• Converting mission and system requirements into effective software architecture solutions.

• Establishing principles, standards, and strategies for software design and development.

• Overseeing the interfaces between software, hardware, avionics, GNC, and systems engineering teams.

• Assisting in the definition, decomposition, and traceability of software requirements.

• Leading architectural trade studies and facilitating technical decision-making processes.

• Aiding in software verification, validation, integration, and qualification activities.

• Contributing to technical reviews and program milestones.

• Identifying and alleviating software-related technical risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in the Space industry (essential).

• Extensive experience in embedded software, flight software, or onboard software development for spacecraft, satellites, launch vehicles, or other space systems.

• Background in defining and maintaining software architectures for safety-critical or mission-critical systems.

• Strong knowledge of software development lifecycles, software engineering principles, and architecture frameworks.

• Experience with real-time and embedded systems.

• Familiarity with software verification, validation, and testing methodologies.

• Proven experience in managing complex software interfaces across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
