FIU Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Manage a caseload of transaction monitoring alerts spanning both crypto and fiat channels, determining whether to escalate or resolve each alert with a well-documented rationale.

• Track funds across various blockchains, pinpointing exposure to mixers, sanctioned wallets, darknet markets, and high-risk exchanges.

• Reconcile on-chain findings with KYC, KYB, and fiat banking records to arrive at defensible conclusions based on incomplete information.

• Compose SAR narratives and supporting documentation that require minimal revisions from the compliance lead.

• Address sanctions and adverse media alerts, which includes wallet screening, and escalate genuine matches along with recommended account actions.

• Recognize recurring typologies or false-positive trends and provide feedback to refine monitoring rules and risk scoring.

• Cultivate collaborative relationships across onboarding, legal, risk, data, and support teams to ensure investigations progress efficiently.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of experience in AML or CFT investigations, or in an FIU role, with a minimum of 2 years directly related to sanctions or AML work.

• Experience in the fintech sector; a background in early-stage fintech is an advantage.

• Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring systems and case management tools.

• Practical experience with at least one blockchain analytics platform, such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or Elliptic.

• Knowledge of BSA and FinCEN guidance, EU AML directives and MiCA, as well as FATF recommendations including the Travel Rule.

• Proven track record of writing SAR narratives personally.

• Full professional proficiency in English.

• Experience at a virtual asset service provider or a crypto-native platform is a plus.

• Familiarity with more than one blockchain analytics tool is a plus.

• Experience in supporting SAR filings across multiple regulatory jurisdictions is a plus.
