Fire Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver exceptional consulting services related to fires, explosions, and significant losses for insurance firms, third-party adjusters, independent enterprises, and insured clients.

• Oversee intricate fire and explosion investigations, identifying cause and origin across residential, commercial, and industrial environments.

• Partner with law enforcement, fire departments, and insurance entities to obtain relevant information.

• Gather and evaluate evidence through witness interviews, scene photography, fire pattern analysis, and data preservation techniques.

• Examine building systems and pertinent fire codes, recognizing potential failure modes and suggesting solutions.

• Create clear and concise reports summarizing investigation findings for clients.

• Provide expert testimony or participate in depositions as needed.

• Cultivate and sustain positive client relationships through effective communication and adherence to established deadlines.

• Stay informed on trends, regulations, and best practices in fire investigation.

• Collaborate closely with engineers and litigation specialists throughout the investigative process, from initial scene assessment to expert testimony.

• Undertake additional duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in fire investigation or a related field within the private sector.

• NAFI – CFEI or IAAI-CFI certification is mandatory.

• Experience with depositions or the capability to provide expert testimony.

• Comprehensive understanding of fire dynamics, fire behavior, and forensic analysis methodologies.

• Extensive knowledge of NFPA 921 & 1033 fire investigation standards.

• Willingness to travel for fire loss investigations throughout your state and neighboring regions.

• Demonstrated ability to produce detailed reports and meet tight deadlines.

• Strong analytical capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe applications.

• Capacity to perform various physical tasks, including prolonged standing/walking, kneeling/squatting/bending, working outdoors in extreme temperatures, and climbing/crawling/reaching overhead.
