Fire Alarm Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Creates 2D and 3D designs for low voltage systems intended for field installation, collaborating with other subcontractor trades.

• Engages in regular coordination and status update meetings with various trade team members, using both virtual platforms and in-person interactions.

• Develops low voltage calculations, mounting specifications, and detailed wiring diagrams to facilitate field installation documentation.

• Reviews architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, elevation, and reflective ceiling plan drawings to ensure design precision.

• Coordinates daily with the NTS Design Manager and NTS Operations team to address any design-related issues and ensure adherence to design schedules, budgets, and customer expectations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 to 5+ years of comprehensive low voltage system design experience.

• Strong proficiency in Autodesk software; expertise in Navisworks and AutoCAD MEP is preferred.

• Familiarity with Autodesk Revit and 3D coordination with other trades is advantageous. Willingness to participate in provided training if necessary.

• Thorough understanding of construction blueprints, including architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical plans.

• Knowledge of electrical/low voltage symbols and drafting conventions and standards.

• Familiarity with systems such as Fire Alarm, Electronic Security, Telecommunications, and Nurse Call Systems.

• Strong grasp of low voltage system applications, terminology, architecture, and current industry trends.

• NICET Certification or equivalent design experience with Fire Alarm System Codes and Standards is preferred.

• Proficient in MS Office and experienced in using virtual meeting platforms like MS Teams.

• Excellent relationship-building, customer service, and client communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, both verbally and in writing.
