This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Take ownership of cloud cost reporting across GCP and AWS, delivering weekly, monthly, and ad hoc dashboards for engineering and business stakeholders.
• Implement cost optimization strategies, including rightsizing, committed use discounts (CUDs/RIs), idle resource cleanup, storage lifecycle policies, and reducing network egress.
• Develop and enforce a cloud tagging strategy by defining taxonomy, automating compliance checks, and addressing untagged resources.
• Create showback and chargeback models to ensure teams comprehend and are accountable for their expenditures.
• Facilitate monthly FinOps review meetings by presenting spending trends, highlighting anomalies, explaining variances, and suggesting actions.
• Establish and maintain budget alerts, anomaly detection systems, and forecasting models.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to instill cost awareness early in architecture and feature design processes.
• Assist with daily cloud operations on GCP and AWS, including incident response, monitoring hygiene, and infrastructure health assessments.
• Enhance Datadog observability through the creation of dashboards, monitors, and alert tuning, particularly for cost-related signals.
• Engage in on-call rotations and conduct post-incident reviews with a focus on cost implications in root cause analysis (RCA).
• Work alongside platform and SRE teams to improve Kubernetes cluster efficiency, focusing on node utilization, autoscaling, and namespace-level cost attribution.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in cloud infrastructure or engineering.
• At least 3 years in a specialized FinOps, cloud cost management, or platform economics position.
• Proficient hands-on experience with GCP cost tooling, including Billing export, Recommender, and CUD analysis.
• Established history of achieving measurable savings in cloud costs.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex cost anomalies into clear narratives for non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in developing and maintaining tagging strategies and cost allocation frameworks.
• Comfortable working in a Kubernetes environment, with a solid understanding of node pools and resource limits in relation to costs.
• Preferred: FinOps Foundation certification (FOCP) or equivalent qualifications.
• Familiarity with FinOps platforms such as CloudZero, Apptio Cloudability, or similar tools.
• Background in SRE or CloudOps, with insights into the factors driving cloud expenditures.
• Experience in AWS cost management, including Savings Plans and Cost Anomaly Detection.
