This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Utilize integrated health information systems and telecommunication technology to enhance customer interactions.
• Conduct accurate searches for patients in the EPIC database to minimize duplicate patient records.
• Evaluate patients' financial capabilities and refer them to financial counseling when necessary.
• Submit eligibility requests to payors to confirm current coverage.
• Provide clinical, insurance, and demographic information to payors for precertification purposes.
• Verify insurance eligibility using a variety of tools.
• Request and generate referrals for designated populations.
• Pre-certify services, obtain authorization numbers, and input information into patient accounts utilizing medical, ICD, and CPT codes.
• Contact external organizations to confirm employment and insurance details for Workers’ Compensation cases.
• Collaborate with the Veterans’ Administration to ensure services are covered and properly authorized.
• Supply accurate information to billing and case management to facilitate claim payment.
• Foster productive relationships with medical staff, referring physicians, and their designees to gather complete, accurate, and timely clinical and financial information.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while adhering to Office of Compliance and HIPAA confidentiality standards.
• Notify management regarding system and workflow issues.
• Execute FCR Pre-Reg tasks and other assigned responsibilities.
• An Associate's degree or higher, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience in insurance, healthcare, or a related field.
• Outstanding customer service skills characterized by enthusiasm and compassion.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential situations, while establishing effective working relationships.
• Commitment to attendance, punctuality, professionalism, detail orientation, cooperativeness, and courtesy.
• Ability to escalate issues when necessary.
• Familiarity with coding, insurance, and Federal, State, and third-party billing/reimbursement requirements.
• Proficiency with PC applications, including MS Office and the Internet.
• Ability to meet employer training requirements.
• Capability to perform FCR Pre-Reg duties and support that area as assigned.
