Financial Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee and ensure the timely and efficient completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

• Conduct account analysis to accurately explain variances.

• Ensure the integrity of accounting records by guaranteeing that staff adheres to the organization’s accounting policies and procedures.

• Manage, track, and fulfill requests from auditors.

• Supervise finance quality assurance audit processes.

• Ensure the timely delivery of precise documentation, reconciliations, and reports to satisfy audit requests.

• Assess and recommend enhancements to optimize Accounting processes, including upgrades to general ledger software and the billing system.

• Address escalated issues from operations and collaborate with other departments.

• Act as a liaison with banks and other stakeholders.

• Manage and nurture accounting staff, providing direction and guidance to achieve team objectives.

• Perform backup responsibilities within the department as needed.

• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with statutory accounting standards.

• Ensure departmental goals are achieved while adhering to approved budgets.

• Direct the development and preparation of complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.

• Review analyses of current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to assist in budgeting for future revenues and expenses.

• Manage the preparation of draft audited financial reports for external auditors.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

• 5 to 7 years of pertinent accounting experience.

• 5 to 7 years of statutory accounting experience is required for the Financial Accounting Manager position.

• 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.

• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Strong organizational abilities, keen attention to detail, and the capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is desirable.

• Exposure to insurance systems and knowledge of insurance is preferred.
