Financial Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities for designated markets.

• Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and other necessary accounting adjustments.

• Analyze and review profit and loss statements along with balance sheet fluctuations.

• Ensure adherence to group accounting policies, local statutory obligations, internal controls, and governance standards.

• Create management reporting packages and conduct financial analyses.

• Preserve balance sheet accuracy through reconciliations, addressing reconciling items and atypical transactions.

• Handle indirect tax compliance, including VAT/GST and local tax submissions.

• Assist with corporate income tax compliance, tax provisioning, tax audits, and regulatory inquiries.

• Oversee transfer pricing recharge processes and generate intercompany charges and reconciliations.

• Compile statutory financial statements and disclosures for assigned legal entities.

• Coordinate statutory filings and audit processes, including audit schedules, documentation, and responses.

• Collaborate with Commercial Finance, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Tax, external auditors, advisors, and other stakeholders.

• Provide accounting guidance and support across the organization.

• Identify opportunities for process, control, and reporting enhancements and lead automation initiatives.

• Support finance transformation projects, system upgrades, standardization, and the adoption of best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification.

• Prior experience in financial accounting, statutory accounting, or a comparable position.

• Strong knowledge of month-end closing processes and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Experience with indirect taxes, such as VAT/GST, and corporate tax compliance.

• Experience in supporting both external and internal audits.

• Familiarity with IFRS and statutory reporting standards.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems.

• Desirable: experience managing multiple markets or legal entities.

• Desirable: knowledge of transfer pricing and intercompany accounting.

• Desirable: exposure to finance transformation, automation, or continuous improvement efforts.

• Desirable: experience with SAGE Intacct, NetSuite, Dynamics, or similar financial systems.
