Field Service Technician II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Diagnose, service, install/deploy, and repair Trace, X-Ray, CT X-Ray, and Cargo Inspection equipment at customer locations.

• Keep detailed field service logs and job files until work is finalized.

• Perform follow-up calls with customers to ensure their satisfaction.

• Address daily service repair requirements and enhance customer satisfaction.

• Maintain effective communication with customers and build positive relationships.

• Install, repair, and maintain equipment on-site; provide necessary customer training.

• Respond to emergency and unplanned service calls within set response-time objectives.

• Complete scheduled maintenance tasks within required timeframes.

• Document inspections, maintenance, and repair activities and promptly submit paperwork.

• Order, install, and return parts; manage the repair-parts cycle time efficiently.

• Keep precise inventories of parts and tools.

• Maintain up-to-date technical certifications.

• Review logs for unresolved issues and prepare formal reports for customers as needed.

• Engage in Service Sales opportunities and support revenue initiatives.

• Evaluate equipment performance utilizing field-support data and suggest modifications or enhancements.

• Offer technical assistance to customers and fellow service professionals.

• Participate in site assessments, pilot-program service tasks, meetings, special projects, and exclusive reporting as required.

• Maintain tools and testing equipment, ensuring proper calibration.

• Collaborate with senior Field Service Technicians and Product Managers.

• Control and reduce costs while maximizing revenue.

• Submit expenses, time cards, and administrative tasks within designated timelines.

• Adhere to company health, safety, environmental, export-control, and security policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s Degree, relevant trade certification in electrical, electronic, or mechanical fields, or military training in electrical, mechanical, or electronics.

• Equivalent relevant work and life experience of 1–3 years in a related electrical or mechanical field service role is acceptable.

• Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and electronic systems and equipment in the field.

• Proficiency in computer skills and familiarity with all programs in the MS Office Suite.

• Aptitude for learning specialized software applications.

• Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service and teamwork.

• Quick responsiveness to customer issues at all times.

• Willingness and capability to travel on short notice.

• Ability to obtain and maintain current technical certifications.

• Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and TSA vetting.

• Successful completion of a federal background investigation.

• Capacity to work Monday–Friday with potential for overtime, travel, and varied work hours.

• Ability to lift or carry up to 80 lbs.

• Ability to push or pull up to 200 lbs.

• Capability to move or manipulate equipment weighing up to 1,000 lbs. using appropriate devices.

• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, turn, and work in unusual positions requiring full-body mobility.

• Ability to work safely in extreme environments and around hazardous industrial equipment.

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, customer-service, multitasking, and stress management skills.

• Must adhere to applicable U.S. export-control and security regulations.
