This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Address the service requirements of BD Advanced Diagnostics customers within the designated geographic area and nationwide when necessary.

• Provide an exceptional customer experience while working remotely and independently.

• Carry out installations, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs using electronic and computer skills, suitable tools, test equipment, and schematic diagrams.

• Service BD COR, KiestrA, Microbiology, Molecular, and LC/MS laboratory systems.

• Collaborate with service and support teams to enhance field service revenue through billable preventive maintenance and equipment relocations.

• Manage customer expectations by clearly communicating the work completed and outlining follow-up plans as needed.

• Proactively schedule and execute system upgrades with clients.

• Document and report customer complaints in the appropriate systems for resolution and investigation.

• Keep spare parts inventory, company vehicle, laptop, tools, test devices, and other assigned equipment in good condition and compliant with policy.

• Use the company credit card responsibly within established business guidelines.

• Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled visits, including overnight stays and occasional national travel.

• Participate in the weekend/holiday on-call rotation approximately every 6 weeks, with local phone availability and potential national travel for instrument support.

• Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

• Engage in vendor credentialing programs and ensure continued access to customer facilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical, or a related field OR a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in troubleshooting and/or repairing complex electro-mechanical, electronic, computer, or electrical systems in commercial, industrial, or military environments is required.

• Strong understanding of electronics, electro-mechanical devices (Mechatronics), PLCs, and pneumatics.

• Intermediate knowledge of information systems networking architecture design and setup.

• Intermediate understanding of computer software operating systems.

• Ability to communicate effectively with customer IT personnel and lab leadership to schedule and complete routine software upgrades and maintenance.

• A valid driver's license with at least 3 years of driving history is required.

• Flexibility to work various hours as needed.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time outside the home geographic area.

• Availability to be on call as required to meet business needs.

• Capability to lift up to 30lbs frequently and 70lbs occasionally.

• Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for up to 10 hours.

• Ability to push/pull materials weighing up to 100lbs.

• Compliance with company Personal Protective Equipment standards and guidelines is necessary.

• Must participate in vendor credentialing programs and complete all requirements to gain and maintain access to customer facilities.

• A Real ID is required.

• Expertise in Robotics is preferred.

• Experience with Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) instrumentation is preferred.

• Familiarity with Lab Information Systems (LIS) and database management is preferred.

• A+, Microsoft, or Cisco certifications are advantageous.

• Understanding of basic computer security concepts and standard processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.

• Must maintain a valid state-issued driver's license with a minimum of 3 years driving history and comply with BD's auto safety standards.

• Ability to lift 30 to 40 lb. objects from the floor to chest level.

• Ability to operate manual sockets, crescent wrenches, and screwdrivers repeatedly throughout an 8 to 10-hour workday.

• Ability to sit, kneel, squat, bend, and stand repeatedly within an 8 to 10-hour period to assemble and repair instrument suites.

• Ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 70 lbs.

• Capability to perform fine motor tasks while reaching over the course of an 8 to 10-hour day.

• Ability to carry a 30 lb. pack on your back for up to 1 hour.

• Ability to drive for distances up to 6 hours and in adverse weather conditions.

• Ability to climb portable ladders and step stools.

• Must be able to pass a respirator fit test and annual spirometry if required to wear a respirator while servicing equipment.
