This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Perform on-site installation of advanced equipment and execute testing protocols to ensure proper functioning.
• Carry out scheduled maintenance visits at customer locations.
• Offer diagnostic and repair assistance to clients and other field personnel.
• Foster and nurture strong professional relationships with customers, system users, and company staff.
• Travel frequently, often on short notice, to customer sites to address issues or support fellow field service personnel.
• Complete and submit field service documentation.
• Deliver training to customers and users regarding system maintenance.
• Provide constructive feedback to product quality teams.
• Contribute to the updating and correction of various Thermo Fisher system documentation in writing.
• Offer guidance on generating reports that involve identifying and isolating outstanding system issues.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for training initiatives.
• A Bachelor’s degree and over 5 years of hands-on technical experience in electronic systems, including installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating advanced analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience in electronic systems.
• In-depth understanding and extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems, or comparable systems.
• Strong ability to effectively engage with customers.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills; must possess professional working proficiency in English.
• Proven track record of repairing complex systems and subsystems down to the component level.
• Proficient in MS DOS and Windows software environments.
• Capable of reading and interpreting schematics.
• Knowledgeable about UHV phenomena and technologies.
• Must be able to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as needed.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
• Physical requirements include the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs.
