
Field Service Engineer – Field Based

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire, +2 more states.
• Deliver on-site assistance to Waters clients
• Install and maintain diagnostic instruments
• Provide after-hours telephone support and on-site assistance during holidays and weekends
• Assist with marketing initiatives, exhibitions, and clinical trials
• Travel daily to various customer locations
• Diagnose and repair lasers/optical pathways, fluidic, pneumatic, electronic, and PC systems on-site
• Install, repair, maintain, and provide service for instruments with minimal oversight
• Follow established procedures, ISO standards, and GMP requirements
• Manage inventory of vehicle stock, testing equipment, tools, and technical resources
• Inform customers about arrival times, work duration, and provide contact information
• Produce detailed work summaries that outline issues, root causes, solutions, and qualification testing
• Secure customer sign-off before departing job sites
• Elevate customer and instrument concerns to District Technical Specialists and Service Managers
• Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner in the field
• Handle travel expenses and manage company assets, including vehicles, credit cards, spare parts, testing equipment, and electronic devices
• High School diploma is essential
• At least 3 years of experience in troubleshooting systems, instruments, or components
• Valid Driver's License is required
• Willingness to travel a minimum of 50% of the time, including the ability to safely drive for over 8 hours in various weather conditions
• Capability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs from floor to chest level
• Ability to carry a pack weighing up to 30 lbs for a duration of up to 1 hour
• Proficient in safely climbing portable ladders and step stools
• Skilled in operating DVMs, power meters, oscilloscopes, microscopes, pressure gauges, and vacuum gauges
• Ability to work safely around lasers, optics, fluidics, electronics, high voltage equipment, and biohazards
• Proficient in using powered and manual tools repeatedly throughout an 8–10 hour workday
• Capable of performing fine motor skills
• Able to sit, kneel, squat, bend, and stand repeatedly for up to 8–10 hours
• Willingness to wear necessary PPE, including safety glasses, goggles, gloves, respirator, and bunny suit for extended periods
• Ability to complete required fit tests, spirometry, and medical evaluations
• Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical/biological field
• Preferred: Technical military training with practical troubleshooting experience
• Preferred: Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, especially with medical device instruments
• Preferred: Familiarity with Flow Cytometry
• Preferred: Experience in customer-facing roles
• Preferred: Knowledge of digital volt meters and oscilloscopes
• Preferred: Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
• Preferred: Familiarity with recent Mac and PC operating systems
