
Field Service Engineer – Electron Microscopy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden, +1 more country.
• Perform on-site installation of electron microscopes and adhere to testing protocols to verify proper functionality.
• Execute scheduled maintenance visits on-site as planned.
• Offer assistance to customers and fellow field service personnel.
• Foster and nurture positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company staff.
• Successfully complete all necessary technical training.
• Prepare and submit field service reports for designated tools.
• Carry out preventive maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to obtain technical mentorship needed for resolving system issues.
• Deliver training to customers and users regarding system maintenance.
• Provide constructive feedback to product quality teams.
• Contribute to the writing, updating, and correction of various Thermo Fisher system documentation.
• Mentor on various reports, including the identification and isolation of deviations within the system.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for training initiatives.
• Collaborate with application scientists to develop effective solutions to meet user challenges.
• Travel up to 50%-75% of the time, primarily within the Nordics and occasionally to other countries.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electronics, Mechanics, Materials Science, Biology, or related disciplines.
• Generally requires hands-on technical experience in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating instruments like SEM, TEM, FIB, or comparable systems.
• Experience with electron microscopes is advantageous.
• Prior experience in troubleshooting and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems is highly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities.
• Proven track record in resolving complex systems and subsystems down to the component level.
• Capable of reading and interpreting schematics.
• Willingness to travel for business, sometimes on short notice.
• Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of a Nordic language is a plus.
