• Act as the primary on-site technical expert for Thermo Fisher at the customer's manufacturing facility located in Iceland.
• Ensure adherence to site-specific requirements, including established response times, uptime objectives, and service deliverables.
• Deliver advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair services for Thermo Fisher single-use bioreactor systems and their associated automation (DeltaV).
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and qualification processes, including SAT, IQ/OQ, and validation protocols.
• Carry out real-time issue resolution to minimize downtime in a critical GMP production environment.
• Oversee and aid in deviation investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
• Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and validation teams at the customer site.
• Serve as a technical advisor to enhance system performance and process reliability.
• Offer hands-on technical training and support to customer personnel as required.
• Interface with internal Thermo Fisher teams (Service, Engineering, Product Support) to escalate and resolve complex issues.
• Maintain precise documentation and service records in compliance with GMP and internal systems (e.g., Salesforce Service Cloud).
• Actively identify opportunities for enhancing system performance, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.
• Occasionally provide support to other customer locations across the EMEA region, with up to 25% travel, sharing expertise and offering field support as needed.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Biomedical, or a related scientific field) or equivalent experience.
• Advanced Degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analytical instruments, particularly in the bioproduction field.
• Strong electronics and mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose issues down to the component level.
• Exceptional customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Mandatory fluency in English.
• Proven problem-solving skills and analytical thinking abilities.
• Proficiency in Windows operating systems, MS Office, and service management software.
• Capability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and documentation.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel overnight up to 25% of the time.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 kg and stand for prolonged periods.
• Experience with bioproduction equipment, especially Single Use Technology (SUT) hardware and automation products.
• Flexibility to work non-standard hours and respond to emergency service calls.
• Strong organizational skills with effective time management abilities.
• Collaborative mindset with the capability to work independently in the field.
• Willingness to support the entire EMEA region as the role evolves.
• Self-sufficient, comfortable working independently, with a logical approach to setting work priorities.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
• Compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards.
• Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.).
