This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Serve as a representative of Oxford Instruments by providing technical support, installation, and maintenance for plasma etch and deposition systems.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of advanced plasma etch and deposition systems.
• Perform scheduled and emergency preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Identify root causes and validate repairs in accordance with vacuum, leak-up, and process benchmarks.
• Foster customer relationships through prompt communication and hands-on technical training.
• Resolve complex hardware and software challenges utilizing specialized diagnostic tools.
• Offer remote assistance to reduce downtime and enhance operational uptime.
• Calibrate essential components such as AMUs, RF Generators, APCs, and MFCs.
• Implement system upgrades that enhance performance, including turbo pumps, PLCs, and breakers.
• Collaborate with various teams, escalate issues as necessary, and ensure thorough documentation is maintained.
• Engage in extensive travel to customer locations for installation and service requirements from Monday to Friday.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a similar technical discipline.
• Equivalent practical experience in semiconductor equipment service may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• 5–7 years of field service experience in the semiconductor sector, particularly with plasma etch and deposition systems.
• Knowledge of cleanroom operations and safety measures.
• Practical experience with turbo pumps, cryo pumps, and roughing pumps.
• Proficient in troubleshooting 208V electrical systems and 24V control subsystems.
• Extensive experience with RF power components and pneumatically operated systems.
• Skillful in using vacuum leak detectors, RF power meters, DVMs, LCR meters, multimeters, and megohm meters.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical schematics along with plumbing diagrams.
• Strong comprehension of RF theory and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) systems.
• Familiarity with RIE, PECVD, ICP, and ALD semiconductor processes.
• A valid driver’s license with a safe driving history and a passport.
• Capability to travel independently and extensively on weekdays, from Monday to Friday.
• Physical agility and comfort in confined or awkward spaces.
• Ability to lift and manage equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Experience with Brooks platforms, Pfeiffer/Edwards pumping systems, and MKS components is preferred.
• Knowledge of APC and MFC calibration and optimization is preferred.
• Strong manual dexterity and the ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace while in cleanroom attire.
• Effective communication skills, active listening, self-sufficiency, teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
