Field Imaging Specialist – Acoustic Window Screening

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Lead the execution of acoustic window screens on selected patients at hospital and clinic locations using linear and cardiac probes following the approved AWS protocol and IFU.

• Oversee and facilitate the acquisition of acoustic window measurements and patient data for WiSE System implants.

• Record measurements and patient details accurately.

• Identify and document viable and optimal acoustic windows; recognize and explain reasons for non-qualifying patients.

• Detect and document any cardiac abnormalities or anatomical findings that may impact implantation or system functionality and escalate issues as necessary.

• Prepare timely and precise AWS reports for implanting physicians, Field Clinical Specialists, Territory Managers, and other internal stakeholders.

• Convert screening results into pre-case recommendations for target implant site selection and anticipated approaches.

• Engage in pre-case planning and re-assess or confirm window selections on the day of the procedure when needed.

• Provide imaging support, which includes guidance on patient positioning and marking of implant sites.

• Collaborate with account teams and EBR field teams on logistics, scheduling, and site readiness for screenings.

• Participate in post-case reviews and contribute insights to protocol and training enhancements.

• Educate hospital sonographers, echo lab personnel, physicians, and other healthcare professionals on AWS protocol, image acquisition techniques, and measurement methodologies.

• Train and evaluate internal field team members on screening workflows and imaging fundamentals.

• Conduct quality-control reviews of screens completed by others, rectifying any measurement or protocol deviations.

• Evaluate site and personnel readiness for independent screenings and recommend necessary support, retraining, or independent status.

• Maintain accurate training and screening documentation in compliance with regulations.

• Provide field feedback to Training & Education, Clinical Affairs, Marketing, Engineering, and R&D departments.

• Assist in the introduction of new imaging modalities.

• Identify trends in screening outcomes, anatomical patterns, and workflow challenges.

• Keep up-to-date with clinical, technical, and product knowledge regarding the WiSE System and the implantation procedure.

• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, patient privacy obligations, hospital credentialing criteria, and company policies.

• Be prepared to travel extensively to support field-based case scheduling.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active, credentialed echocardiography sonographer credential (RDCS, RCS, or equivalent) in good standing.

• At least 3 years of full-time adult cardiac sonography experience in a hospital environment, with independent scanning responsibilities.

• Proven proficiency in transthoracic imaging, understanding of thoracic and cardiac anatomy, assessment of intercostal windows, and precise measurement techniques.

• Capability to scan independently and make accurate, defensible eligibility and target site determinations without on-site supervision.

• Strong patient-facing demeanor; able to position, coach, and reassure heart failure patients during prolonged scanning sessions in various postures.

• Credibility with physicians and echo lab leadership; capable of teaching and providing direct technical feedback to sonographers.

• Ability to operate independently in a dynamic, uncertain, and rapidly growing environment.

• Demonstrated capacity to maintain composure and achieve results in time-sensitive or high-pressure clinical situations.

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including clear clinical reporting.

• Proficiency with standard imaging software, DICOM viewers, CRM systems, LMS platforms, Microsoft Office, cloud collaboration tools, and digital resources.

• Ability to fulfill hospital credentialing, immunization, and vendor access requirements.

• Valid driver's license and compliance with relevant driving laws and state regulations.

• Willingness to travel approximately 80% of the time, including overnight stays, occasional weekends, and possible international travel.

• Flexibility to travel on short notice.

• Physical capability to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, and use hands for extended durations.

• Ability to maintain scanning posture and perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand motions.

• Capacity to transport and set up portable ultrasound equipment.

• Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, lift up to 20 pounds, and assist with patient positioning.

• Required visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and focus adjustment.

• Bachelor's degree is preferred.

• Experience with TEE and ICE imaging is preferred.

• Background in training, precepting, or quality-checking other sonographers is preferred.

• Experience in the medical device industry is preferred.

• Familiarity with cardiac rhythm management, electrophysiology, heart failure, or CRT patient populations is preferred.

• Experience in cardiac CT interpretation or measurement, as well as pediatric or adult congenital heart disease scanning, is a plus.
