Field Imaging Specialist – Acoustic Window Screening

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead the acquisition of acoustic window screens for candidate patients at hospital and clinic locations using linear and cardiac probes in accordance with the approved AWS protocol and IFU.

• Guide and supervise the collection of acoustic window measurements and necessary patient information for WiSE System implants.

• Accurately document measurements and patient data.

• Identify and record viable and optimal acoustic windows.

• Recognize non-qualifying patients and communicate the reasoning behind these determinations.

• Identify and document any cardiac abnormalities or anatomical findings that may impact implantation or system functionality.

• Escalate relevant findings to physicians and internal stakeholders as needed.

• Prepare timely and accurate AWS reports for implanting physicians, Field Clinical Specialists, Territory Managers, and other internal stakeholders.

• Translate screening results into pre-case guidance regarding target implant site selection and anticipated approach.

• Collaborate in pre-case planning with implanting physicians, Field Clinical Specialists, and Territory Managers.

• Re-scan or verify window selections on the day of procedures when necessary.

• Provide imaging support for cases, which includes guidance on patient positioning and implant site marking.

• Work closely with the field team on screening logistics, patient scheduling, and site readiness.

• Engage in post-case reviews and contribute learnings to protocol and training improvements.

• Train hospital sonographers, echo lab staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals on AWS protocol, image acquisition, and measurement techniques.

• Assess and train internal field team members on screening workflows and imaging fundamentals.

• Provide constructive feedback on in-field screening performance.

• Conduct quality-control reviews of screens completed by others and rectify protocol deviations.

• Evaluate site and personnel readiness for independent screening, recommending support, retraining, or independent status as necessary.

• Maintain compliant training and screening documentation.

• Deliver field feedback to Training & Education, Clinical Affairs, Marketing, Engineering, and R&D teams.

• Support the introduction of new imaging modalities.

• Identify trends in screen pass/fail rates, anatomical patterns, and workflow obstacles.

• Maintain clinical, technical, and product knowledge related to the WiSE System and the implantation procedure.

• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, patient privacy obligations, hospital credentialing requirements, and company policies.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Credentialed echocardiography sonographer (RDCS, RCS, or equivalent) with active status and in good standing; required.

• A minimum of 3 years of full-time adult cardiac sonography experience in a hospital environment, with independent scanning responsibilities.

• Bachelor's degree preferred; a combination of sonography credentials and relevant clinical experience will be considered.

• Proven proficiency with transthoracic imaging, thoracic and cardiac anatomy, intercostal window assessments, and precise measurement techniques.

• Experience with TEE and ICE imaging in hospital-based OR, Cath Lab, or EP Lab settings preferred.

• Experience in training, precepting, or quality-checking other sonographers is preferred.

• Background in the medical device industry in a field-based, clinical applications, or clinical education role is preferred.

• Familiarity with cardiac rhythm management, electrophysiology, heart failure, or CRT patient populations preferred.

• Experience in cardiac CT interpretation or measurement is a plus.

• Experience in scanning pediatric or adult congenital heart disease is advantageous.

• Ability to scan independently and make accurate, defensible eligibility and target site determinations without on-site supervision.

• Strong patient-facing skills; capable of positioning, coaching, and reassuring heart failure patients during extended scanning across multiple postures.

• Credibility with physicians and echo lab leadership; able to teach and provide direct technical feedback to sonographers.

• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, ambiguous, high-growth environment.

• Proven capability to maintain composure and deliver results under time-sensitive or high-pressure clinical situations.

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including clear and concise clinical reporting.

• Proficiency in common imaging software, DICOM viewers, CRM systems, LMS platforms, Microsoft Office, cloud collaboration tools, and digital resources.

• Ability to fulfill hospital credentialing, immunization, and vendor access requirements.

• Valid driver's license and compliance with applicable driving and state regulations.

• Willingness to travel approximately 80% of the time, including overnight stays, occasional weekends, and potential international travel.

• Flexibility to travel on short notice to assist with case scheduling.

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, use hands, reach, and maintain a sustained scanning posture.

• Capability to transport and set up portable ultrasound equipment.

• Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, lift up to 20 pounds, and assist with patient positioning.

• Required visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and focus adjustment.

• Ability to work in hospital, cath lab, and clinic environments.
