This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Travel to customer sites, testing ranges, and demonstration locations to install, configure, and operate Tightbeam free-space optical terminals and Spacetime/SATCOM systems.
• Conduct site surveys, oversee installation, optical alignment, configuration, and commissioning for communications deployments across terrestrial, airborne, shipborne, and satellite platforms.
• Engage in hands-on mechanical assembly and integration of hardware and mechanisms.
• Undergo or provide training on optical fiber termination and handling procedures.
• Configure and set up SATCOM terminals while integrating Tightbeam and/or SATCOM systems into customer network environments.
• Diagnose issues with optical subsystems, RF/transceiver performance, mechanical mounts, and network integration using engineering-level debugging tools.
• Supervise systems during demonstrations and testing events; collect, download, and analyze performance data in real-time.
• Execute basic Linux system administration tasks along with initial troubleshooting efforts.
• Assist in equipment disassembly, data gathering, and post-event field reporting.
• Collaborate with R&D, Solutions Architects, and Mission Engineers to convert field insights into product enhancements and facilitate customer onboarding.
• Provide technical training and documentation to customer engineering teams.
• Assist pre-sales engineering with technical demonstrations and proof-of-concept implementations.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for field deployments, up to 50%, often on short notice.
• Comfort with hands-on work involving mechanical hardware and mechanisms.
• Basic understanding of RF and optical communications as well as transceiver principles.
• Openness and ability to be trained on optical fiber termination and handling.
• Familiarity with Ethernet, TCP/IP, IPv4, and IPv6 networking protocols.
• Capability to learn and use engineering-level and debug user interfaces.
• Proficiency with Linux, including package installation, software updates, identifying missing dependencies, and basic troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills for articulating technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive and independent problem-solving mindset, well-suited to diverse and challenging field environments.
• Preferred hands-on experience in setting up and configuring SATCOM terminals.
• Preferred hands-on experience with free-space optical systems, laser communications, or high-speed photonics.
• Preferred hands-on experience with point-to-point or point-to-multipoint RF wireless systems.
• Preferred familiarity with optical alignment, beam propagation, and atmospheric impacts on optical links.
• Preferred proficiency with optical test and measurement equipment.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical/Communications Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related field is preferred.
• Active U.S. Secret security clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is preferred.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, satellite communications, or telecom sectors is preferred.
