
Field Application Engineer – Strategic SiC Power Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Serve as the global technical lead for designated West Coast clients supporting Wolfspeed SiC initiatives.
• Facilitate collaboration among cross-regional FAE, sales, and engineering teams to ensure uniform messaging and execution.
• Assist in the adoption of scalable platforms across various regions and manufacturing locations.
• Foster alignment between customer design teams and Wolfspeed's product, quality, and operations teams.
• Offer system-level guidance on: SiC MOSFET and module integration, switching optimization and gate drive design, thermal performance and power density enhancement, and EMI mitigation along with layout best practices.
• Influence early architectural decisions to leverage SiC performance benefits.
• Identify and promote platform-level opportunities across a diverse customer base.
• Advocate for design reuse and scalable architectures across Automotive, Energy, and AI infrastructure initiatives.
• Aid AI data center power transitions towards enhanced efficiency and elevated switching frequencies enabled by SiC technology.
• Work closely with Device Engineering, Product Marketing, Quality & Reliability, Operations, Supply Chain, and Capacity Planning teams.
• Take a proactive approach in managing escalations, risk mitigation, and design validation processes.
• Provide structured insights to Wolfspeed’s product roadmap based on market trends.
• Lead technical design reviews, workshops, and discussions on failure analysis.
• Support customer audits and high-level technical engagements.
• Travel internationally as required to assist in achieving key customer milestones and strategic initiatives.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in power electronics applications, FAE, or system design positions.
• Strong knowledge of: SiC MOSFETs and power modules.
• Expertise in high-voltage power conversion (400V–1200V+).
• Proficiency in thermal and switching performance optimization.
• Experience in supporting Automotive, Industrial Power, or Data Center applications.
• Proven ability to coordinate across global regions and influence large EMS organizations.
• Excellent communication skills adept at engaging both technical engineers and executive stakeholders.
• Familiarity with automotive qualification processes (AEC-Q, ISO 26262) is preferred.
• Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing ramp and capacity-constrained environments is preferred.
• Experience with AI data center power supply architectures is preferred.
