Family Medicine Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding across 1–4 specialties

• Execute professional fee, facility, or HCC coding

• Offer coding services that assist clients

• Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes with the highest possible specificity

• Precisely assign diagnosis and procedure codes utilizing ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS

• Interpret coding guidelines to ensure accurate code assignment

• Evaluate the significance of documentation and its effect on reimbursement

• Adhere to AHIMA’s Standards of Ethical Coding, the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and the Ethics and Compliance Program

• Follow internal policies and procedures

• Engage in company-sponsored training and educational programs

• Maintain at least one credential from AAPC or AHIMA

• Safeguard confidential information and adhere to privacy and security regulations

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership

⛳️ Requirements

• Certification from AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P)

• At least 6 months of practical experience

• Proficient knowledge and experience with EMR and billing systems

• Access to a phone, reliable internet connection, and current CPT and ICD-10-CM coding references

• Maintain ongoing productivity and accuracy at a level of 95% or above

• Uphold a quality score of 95% or higher

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing

• Capable of coordinating, analyzing, observing, making decisions, and meeting deadlines

• Consistent, predictable, and punctual attendance

• Ability to work at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours daily

• Ability to sit for extended periods

• Occasional capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
