This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide exceptional tax services in the capacity of Senior Tax Associate or Tax Supervisor.
• Devote approximately 70%-80% of your time to working on Sec. 42 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) compliance projects, with the remaining time allocated to traditional tax responsibilities.
• Prepare federal, state, and local tax filings.
• Prepare and review tax documents completed by staff members and offshore preparers, depending on the role.
• Utilize partnership taxation expertise in tax engagements.
• Conduct research on new or complex tax matters and draft supporting memorandums.
• Communicate effectively with client personnel regarding deadlines, engagement status, requests for information, and tax compliance issues.
• Mentor, train, and develop junior staff and offshore preparers.
• Contribute to the annual tax training.
• Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, personal networks, and participation in professional organizations.
• In the Tax Supervisor role, oversee engagements, perform technical reviews, develop staff, and provide leadership to the team.
• Minimum of three (3) years of tax experience in public accounting.
• While not mandatory, the ideal candidate will possess strong experience in LIHTC and traditional tax areas.
• Preference will be given to applicants with past experience in traditional tax work, including high net worth individuals, trusts, and corporations.
• Familiarity with the specific details of IRC Sec. 42 LIHTC projects, including credit calculations and first-year credit projects.
• Capability to review LIHTC projects.
• Comfortable engaging with LP investors and GPs.
• Significant experience with large nonprofit developer returns (Form 990).
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Current CPA license is preferred but not essential.
• A Master’s Degree in Taxation is a significant advantage.
• Self-motivated and effective in a fully remote work environment.
• Strong understanding of fundamental accounting and tax principles.
• Highly driven, with outstanding organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and adhere to time constraints successfully.
